Default Looking for info...before I buy

We are looking at buying a 99-2001 C70 Convertible. It would be used mostly as a summer toy. I do drive a full size quad cab truck so I would get to drive it when it was cold or cloudy.

What should I be looking for before I buy?
Are there transmission issues ? I would be looking at cars with 125,000 to 150,000.
Are they all turbos?
Is there a big difference between the the HPT and LPT? What about price?
We noticed they are ranging from $4,000 to $6,000. Does that sound right? Edmunds listed it at just over $2,000.

Expensive to maintain?
My other options are the 94-99 BMW 3 series and the 99+ Saab 93.

Any and all opinions welcome!

I bought a 2002 C70 convertible for $7,000 a 1 1/2 years ago. It cost me $600 for the first dealer service including Maryland state inspection. I also recently replaced the timing belt for about $1,000. Other than that, for almost two years, I have had absolutely no trouble. I am religious about dealer maintenance, about $160 every 7,500 miles, which for me is once a year. The HTP is a much more powerful car. Both have turbos and really kick in with incredibly fast acceleration when you punch it. You'll be doing 90 mph before you know it on a two-lane car pass. I too use mine as a summer toy with a Chevy Trailblazer for normal use. Also bought a Volvo-made cover as we do not have a garage, and it has protected it amazingly. Good luck in your search.
