Default need new tires

hi again - we need new tires on our 1999 c70. we currently have 205/55/16 all season on it and i was wondering what the difference would be to go to size 225/50/16, keeping the original centaurus rims.
does this size rub at full left or right steering?
would it affect the comfort and noise?
would it affect the mpg?
any other things that could be affected?
i want to go with either yokohama avid v4s ($524) or pirelli pzero nero m+s ($ 560).
thanks
fritz

The original tyres on a c70 are 50 aspect and not 55 so no problem there. However I doubt that you can go much past 215 on the width. Tyre rack could help you. Also, I would consider Continental Conti Contacts rather than your choices.

r.

reg, thanks for your answer.
tirerack and the volvo manual says that the original size is 225/50 or 205/55, so i hope there won't be an issue there.
funny you mentioning the contis, these are on right now, but i find them pretty noisy. and all the reviews at tirerack from people who aro on the two choices i have are pretty good, so i think i will stick with either one of them - thanks for our suggestion though.

I have the Yokohama Avid V4's on my T5R in 215 50 17's. They ride and handle real well, but they are not wearing all the well a all. I would NEVER buy a Pirelli. I don't think you should go wider than 215 either.
