Question New top won't close tight

Hi folks:
Just got my first Volvo, nice car (83000mi) with a new top the owner had installed. The top goes up and down fine but does not want to fully seat in the back unless I push down while Mrs. OGC70 pushes button. The previous owner is not a car guy so I think he just went to whoever gave him a good price. I inspected everything and think now that the top may be on wrong. Any advice welcomed.
I may take it to a good top shop I know if all else fails.

Wink Taking it to the dealer for top adjustment

Been studying up on the top operation and it seems that the potentiometer fails on these vehicles fairly often. A potentiometer is an electrical device that splits electrical current and is often used as a position sensor. The dealer gave me a ballpark of $150 + or - to adjust the top. I will report results next week. This is another example of over engineering by Volvo.

Yeah, it might just need to be calibrated.

Wink 2K to repair top?

Took to dealer today, they wanted 2000 to repair the top. Broken micro switch and a missing one. Someone tried to fix it by jury rigging. It will be a roadster for now but I think I actually can repair it myself with the proper parts.

Unhappy Epoxy fix-not good.

Looked at the top components today and discovered a previous owner had broken the tappet on the passenger side and the micro switch and wire were entirely missing. The drivers side tappet had a huge glob of epoxy holding the plastic tappet top and micro switch. This fix is beyond my pay grade so I am going to bite the bullet and have the dealer repair it. I will have them install a new timing belt also. Putting an additional 3k in this car was not on my agenda. I should have walked away from the deal when the seller told me the reason the top was not closing fully onto the rear deck was because of the new top. Oh well, it's buyer beware!
