Oil, Coolant and Tappet Noise
Hi,
I have a 1999 C70 2.4T
I have a few problems, and are as follows:
1. Noisy Tappets - only sometimes does it die down slightly. I have checked the oil and level is fine, but most of the time it is loud. Atfer a long drive it seems to quiet down a little, but can it really take that long for oil pressure to peak? Could I have an Oil pressure problem?
2. This could be related to point 1. The Oil level has to be checked and topped up every couple of months. Can this be normal? There are no signs of a leak on the ground, nor any signs on the engine of leak. and it does not chuck lots of smoke out to suggest it is burning oil. What could be happening?
3. Again, this could be related to 1 and 2. I have to top the coolant up every 6-7 weeks. (i am aware of a small leak in the radiator) but do not let the coolant get low. (I am waiting until i can afford to replace the radiator)
Could the fact that i have a coolant leak be contributing the loss of oil? and is the loss of oil contributing to low oil pressure which in turn is causing the tappets to remain noisy??
Any help would be very much appreciated, as this is driving me nuts!!
Thanks
Chris
