oil in the coolant, maybe coolant in the oil too?
Argh!! I have the 98 S70 GLT with 215K and I have oil getting in the coolant!! After I had finished changing the oil, I noticed that the coolant tank was real dirty looking. After a series of flushes and cleanings I could see that a bit of oil ends up in the tank. I have been cleaning that tank out regularly, otherwise the oil foams up in the tank and makes a mess
So I have a few questions:
With this amount of miles what are my options?
Is it a guarantee that this is the resultof a blown head gasket?
How do coolantpressure tests actually work?
Would anyone consider using Nanotechnology head gasket repair? for $20, wouldn't that be worth a try before spending the big $$?
Does this type of turbo have an oil cooler within the radiator?
Please consult.
Thanks,
Timk

I believe you may have an oil cooler on the back of the engine that can cause this, or the transmission cooler. If it were the trans. cooler, it may be a reddish color, otherwise maybe ir's the engine oil cooler.
The head gasket can cause this too, but I would check the others first!

Chech the oil and tranny fluid and see if they are contaminated as well.
Sounds like the Radiator might have broke between one of the cooler and the coolant chambers.

That is good news for sure.
I have been checking the oil regularly and that seems to have slight amounts of moisture on occasion. The trans fluid looks good.
It is time for a new radiator. I have since learned that if the head gasket blows, rarely will only non pressure oil leak into the coolant, most likely it would be combustion gas. Then the engine temp would always be creeping up and I would notice a change in performance. True? Not True?
Thanks for the inputs.
