I’ve posted here a few times before and have always gotten solid help, so I’m back looking for a little more direction on an ongoing issue with my C70.
I’m still chasing down an oil/leak issue and hoping for some fresh ideas on where to look next.
When I first bought the car, after driving it and parking, I’d hear what sounded like the intercooler or turbo area “cooling off” or venting for several minutes after shutdown. That no longer happens, which may or may not be relevant, but it’s something I noticed has changed.
The car also has a kill switch installed by a previous owner. If I don’t use it, the battery will be dead by the next day. I know that points to a parasitic draw and I plan to track that down later, but it’s not my top priority right now.
More recently, I’ve noticed a liquid leaking under the car. Based on where it’s dripping, it looks like it’s coming from behind or near the turbo heat shield area. I can feel some oil residue around there, but from the top it’s hard to see exactly where it’s coming from. After driving, I also notice oil splatter on the underside of the hood.
Another thing I’ve noticed is that once the car is fully up to operating temperature, it tends to shift hard when coming to a stop. Driving and shifting otherwise seem normal, but it’s something I can feel consistently once everything is warm.
The car does not overheat, but when I’m stopped after driving it smells hot, almost like burning oil or something cooking off. The smell seems strongest when idling after a drive.
I plan to pull the turbo heat shield this weekend to get a better look, but before I tear into it I wanted to see if anyone has ideas or common failure points I should be checking in that area.

Thanks in advance for any insight. Oil splatter after driving on the underside of the hood I replaced this oil cap sometime back but maybe its still leaking? or stained im unsure towards the heatshield. if I put my hand down there its oily.
