Opinion on this 2004 C70 or in General
2004 Volvo C70 HT, $7,750 - Cars.com
I am looking at this C70 convertible listed above. I own a 2003 S60 and 2004 XC70
Happy with both, except front ends always needing attention over the yrs. (Struts, sway bar links, etc), but still, I am stuck on Volvo.
Whats your opinion on C70 for this yr. (2004) The miles are extremely low for the yr.(52,000) I am looking for a Convertible as I just sold my MGB convertible, so I dont know if there have been issues with this car in the past or not?
Also, both of my cars are AWD, how will this handle in Michigan weather in your opinion and comparison, and will I need to put Snow Tires on?
Thanks

Expensive to fix top issues
Please see my latest posting about my 2004 C70 soft top. There are several independent Volvo repair shops around my area BUT the top mechanism on these cars is very complex and usually requires dealer involvement.
Make sure the top is working properly by having an Authorized Volvo dealer check it out before buying it. It is cheap insurance.

Thanks, yeah the car is listed at a Volvo Dealership, so I will have them doublecheck anything pertaining to the mechanism. I called them today, and its a one owner car trade in. Matter of fact, this is the dealership that serviced it throughout its life.
Are there things to really be looking for on this particular model besides the Top Mechanism? Not sure how much the other car models share with this one.
Is that a good price for the miles on this car?
Thank you again

Cost to maintain
KBB, an average 2004 C70 is around 5k give or take. I am in the process of getting my top controls replaced and just ordered a used motor and cables in addition to the other parts the dealer had to install. The dealer could not locate the part so I am having it shipped to them. Any 10 year old car regardless of mileage is going to require service. For example: Volvo tech recommends timing belt replacement because of age not just high miles. So you need to figure in those kinds of expenses. I knew I would spend more to fix this Volvo but never thought it would bury me in as much repair expense as it has.

My 98 C70 Coupe, 2.3 HPT has cost $3800 in repairs just because of age!
