Default Re manufactured cylinder head for an '06

Hi, y'all,

I'm new to the forum; I need a re-manufactured Cylinder head for a 2006 C70; B5254T3 engine.

Can anyone suggest a place? A Volvo dealer wants $2,600 (!) for their re-manufactured head!

Also is the VIN critical for matching up the exact replacement head?

Thanks!

what I would do is shop prices for a used head using car-parts.com. I bet you can find something for your engine in the $500 range. Then you can go to a local machine shop to get their pricing to rebuild it - ie new valve guides /insert and seat the valves, plane the head, bead blast it clean etc. Otherwise you may just want to use a low mileage head as is and have it checked for flatness... Then again I did google "volvo c70 remanufactured head" and found this link:

Thanks!! But is the VIN number critical in getting the correct head? I've seen sellers say that their head is for a B5254T2 engine. How is that different from a T3? How does one tell what engine they have; the VIN number?

THANKS again!

there is a build plate on the firewall and usually a sticker or stamping on the engine. You can also use a VIN decoder which translates the 6th and 7th positions into the engine code... it will be something like "59" for the T2 and "68" for the T3 in the VIN.

Here's a good wiki
