Just purchased part number 30787833, rear passenger compartment repair kit, from a dealer's online site. It didn't come with instructions and wondered if anyone had experience with the kit or access to the instructions. TIA.

Have you been able to get this installed yet? I have not yet looked at mine.

 

I did install on my one side that had both tabs broken. PITA to install. I had to grind to remove a fair amount of material to get the new piece to fit. Then had trouble finding a glue/adhesive that would bond well. The biggest problem, though, had to do with how the new part was manufactured. It appears to be 3D printed. I feel that this gave the new part less structural integrity than an injection molded part, etc. The tabs on the new piece broke off after about 4-5 uses. A lot of trouble to go to for a part that almost immediately fails.

 

I thought the parts looked flimsy. I may still try to install them. If they fail, I will remove the side panels and find a way to close the storage compartment doors permanently as they are poked out open and make the back seat unusable for humans or canines.

 

Sheesh, guys - sometimes it doesn't pay to go aftermarket or to go cheap.

Take the problem to the Volvo dealership's shop. Yes, it'll hurt to pay their prices, but the problem is fixed and they should guarantee the work for the life of the repair.

It wasn't aftermarket. It was a Volvo part. The issue is it was poorly designed and poorly made even though it is a Volvo part.

It's probably identical to the kit I bought, and if you look at the listing, in one of the photos one of the pieces is broken.

 

It is my listing, and in the listing, I explained that one piece of the two kits is broken.

 

I apologize. I wasn't trying to be critical of the listing, and I didn't realize the listing was yours. I was trying to point out, as you are obviously aware, how flimsy the part is. I again attribute this to the fact my part was 3d printed and seemed much more brittle than a molded part would be. Volvo should be ashamed for selling it.
