Default Rough start issue with odd temp gauge reading

I'm having difficulty starting and the temperature gauge is already at half when starting, this is after sitting all night.. There is a high pitched whining noise coming from the front of the car near the radiator. There are no check engine lights and no codes. I just replaced the heater core, the thermostat and it has been running fine. The maf sensor was replaced 6 months ago. I have the 2.4 LPT, any help is appreciated!!

Now the temp is rising and the water doesn't seem to be flowing through the cooling bottle....i just replaced the thermostat to be sure. This is very strange as it was running fine.

I've got a 87 volvo 740 turbo only had it for a month and I think its over heating cause the temp guage shows half way after 10 minutes of running and the headers and turbo glow red at night only driving it for 10 miles strange

Check thermotat installation, check thermostat operation with meat thermometer & pan of water on stove. Check for water flow when thermostat opens throughout system including heater core. Does heater work correctly? What is condition of anto-freeze?
