Default Some C70 Questions

Hey guys, just took delivery of my 99 C70 and I LOVE IT!!!! However I have some questions that maybe you can help me with!

1. The CEL came on, and when I took it to Autozone to have them read the codes, it came up P1171 which was Manufacturer Controlled Fuel & Air Metering. Which I was told is the Mass Air Flow sensor. But when I questioned a service guy @ Volvo about it. They said that if it was the MAF sensor, that my car would stall. And it doesn't. Is it possible that it was a single fault and now is operating fine? And if so, how can I reset the CEL?

2. The Service light has come on. How do I reset that one as well?

3. The car starts and runs beautifully. However, when I shut the engine down, it kinda shuts down roughly. Is that a problem with something? Or is that just normal for a 99 with 65K on it?

Thanks for your help guys

I had the MAF replaced in my c70 when the 'light' illuminated. I was not experiencing any driveability issues what so ever. Perhaps a cleaning of it with the new MAF cleaner that is now on the market may clean up the wire??

I unplugged the connection to the MAF and then took the negative lead off the battery for over 1 min. When I reconnected the battery the CEL stayed off. And hasn't come back on with 30 min of driving. So hopefully it was just a single fault. So now I can get it inspected. But does anyone know how to stop the service light from coming on?

Do a search for "Service light reset" It is the same as the S40,S60,S80 and V70 2001 and newer.

Ok, well the CEL came back on. And I think its the same fault. Which was P1171. Has anyone gotten the same fault? If so what did they do to fix it?

Also, what size tires are stock on a 99 C70. I think the tires are too big on mine, because when I cut the wheel all the way, it rubs on the wheel well. And i'm pretty sure that it shouldn't do that.

I think P1171 might be the Cam sensor.
Any problems with stalling or not starting?

For the tire size check in the fuel door it should say on the sticker.

Well on the OBD II code reader @ Autozone, it said that it was a Manufacturers Air & Fuel Metering fault. Which I thought was the Mass Air Flow sensor. But when they looked the code up in the computer @ Autozone, it came out as a Rotor fault. Any ideas on that???

I will have to try to look at the Cross refrence tomorrow at work and see what it is in a Volvo code.

Then I can help you a little more.

If I remember it was a P Code, P1171. And from what I searched online. I found most people replaced their MAF and it went away. But I'd rather not spend over 100 for something that I'm not sure what it is. So when it happens again, I'm out another 100.
