Default Spark Plugs

Hello

I know everybody has different opinions but I was just wondering if anybody notices any difference between brands of plugs for the a 98 C70 Turbo.

Tks
John

The Bosch Platinum has always worked good for us.

I agree with TECH. I use single electrode Bosch platinum and there is no fouling, the auto runs better, and they last forever! I gap them a tad wider than what the book calls for.

If I remember correctly over on VS there was major discussion about what type to use of a turbocharged Volvo. I think they said to use Copper ones, not totally sure though.

Well, let's look at it this way. I drive a c70. I use Bosch single electrode platinum plugs. I find them superior. I have had no adverse situations with them. They perform as I mentioned in my post. I do believe that I therefore have some authority as to what works in a c70. I believe that is what is the information that "skipper" was looking for.

Coppers run fine, and have the best spark response because copper cored electodes conduct better than platinum. The Plats will have better oxidation resistance and that's why it's on there. For better life.

For my dollar and for best performance, the coppers work great on my S60, as I get 33 mpg highway so I must be doing something right performance wise. It's so easy to change the plugs that I don't care if they only last 30K. Only take less than 45 minutes to change them all out. And and 5 plugs sets you back a whole $10 max, ha.

Platinum plugs began to be original equipment as a result of unleaded petrol.. In addition they last for those 100,000 mile tune ups that the public now demands. Interestingly, BMW, Corvette, Jaguar, and the list of high performance autos goes on and on....use platinum plugs and trust me.........you do not go 30,000 miles on a set! The finer electrode foul less and yes........platinum is a much better conductor than copper. But on the flip side............one should use what works for them and stick with it. Volvo does use platinum as original equipment in some models.........I understand.

At work, an independent garage specializing in Volvo, we run into Bosh Plantinum plugs being a common problem why people's Volvo don't run well. We avoid them like the plague.

Mostly we work on 4-5+ years old Volvos, so maybe this is the problem. What year cars are ya'll using them in?
