My bad. I used the search function, and must have grabbed the wrong link. There is lots in past topics.
I'm going form memory. So dont quote me on it. try the search though
8" in the lower doors,
4" in the upper doors.
8" in the back.
4" in the dash.
I sadly dont have the ones in the subs rear seats. but I think those are 8" or 10"

thanx thats good start. I think i have components in the rear deck. I dont have center channel on dash just 2 front tweets.
But its something to work with I might look into upgrading the speakers at some point .

I was reading the owners manual. I gather if you dont have the centre dash ( I dont) then you dont hae the upgraded system. in the owners manual it says that the speakers in the rear seats have a shut off switch in the rear middle consol. ( thats where the window switches are for my convert) I would gather if you have the shut off switch, you have the speakers. Therefor if you dont have the switch.. well you can figure out the rest....

I know my rears are Dynaudio. the others not sure of. I did some surfing and found the sizes. Its listing the dolby suround system but the size are the same
In the rear of the car, you have
two 8-inch bass speakers and two 1-inch tweeters. In each door, there is
an 8-inch bass speaker and a 4-inch speaker for midrange. There are also
two 1-inch tweeters in the dashboard.
so you were about right
edit, I didnt see any info in the manual for that. I doubt I have the subs, the HU is 816
hey, heres a cool write-up on the upgrade process to the dynaudio sound system. very informative.

c70's come with dynaudio speakers. The quoted article was relevant to the s and v 70 along with the 'cheaper' head unit. One truly cannot obtain better sound than from the c70 stock unit with the Dolby Prologic Surround sound system!

One should never say you can not get a better sound system. No matter how good it is, you can always get better. That being said, I think the sound sytem in the C70 with the upgraded system is the best factory system I have every heard. I'm looking to upgrade the speakers in my 97 850 R, but not sure which way I am going yet. I really like to stick with the OEM stuff because I have this tendency to go way overboard once I strart buying audio systems. You should see my home theatre system.

I have the 816 and thinking of getting the 901. Not sure about it thou, I dont have the DObly setup. As far as speakers goes they sound ok atm. Theres some farting out the rear deck speakers if the song is bass heavy, but over its pretty good. Once I get back on my feet im going to look around for replacement HU and drivers.I would like to stay with factory HU for the looks. I might add my sub box, not sure its a massive 2x12 or 2x10 JL Audio with a 300watt Memphis Audio amp.
in the link i posted the guy said that the 901 HU is made by pioneer? and that it doesn't have the internal amplifier like the 816 HU, so your gonna have to get the external factory amp for it to work properly.
so, all C70s come with dynaudio speakers? so the only difference in the premium system is that some use the 816 hu and some use the 901?
my front center speakes and rear passenger side speaker is not working, so i have to see if its the HU not putting out a signal or if the speakers are blown, but i would love to upgrade to the 901 HU.

Dynaudio are on par with Beovox...................you simply cannot obtain better speakers. Certainly Alpine and the rest are fine but what you must realize is that all speaker manufactures have several lines of speakers. In addition the speaker enclosure, and amplifier makes a difference but to simply diss Dynaudio as not being "the best" is obtuse. One might want to visit their local Volvo dealership and obtain the brochure that is available that visits the subject of Volvo's Dynaudio speaker system...........it is quite interesting!

my 01 C70 sounds pretty damn good with the Dynaudio even thou 1 dash speaker is out. Im so hoping thats its covered under the warranty. There is some bass fart if the song is bass heavy and its loud.
I really would like to change the 816 to the 901. But Im unsure if I would need the center speaker with it. I dont have that setup. I think I read that with Dolby Suround most of the vocals go thru the center channel. That and the 901's are a bitch to find

when you talk to your volvo dealer agian ask them if they can get you a refurbished 901 and if they will accept your old 816 as a core like the dude did in the link i posted. he said that he paid over all like $100+ for the reman 901 by doing that. don't forget that you'll also need that external factory amp with the 901 HU.
i need a center speaker and the housing since the the ******* who owned it before me broke and blowneverything. it could be possible that the center is justnot connecter, but i have to figure out how to getthe dash area apart to investigate [&:]

You can always try this guy. He has about 100 scrap volvos at any given time. MAke sure to tell him you want one from the scrap yard, and not a new one though.
