Default Take a look at this shocker

Im on with a front end bush replacement, I am doin my shocks at the moment i replaced strut and spring seat and bearing , when i put it all back together i came across this PICS: Wow there like bananas
Why has this happened how can springs bend so bad like this

The first thing I noticed was that it appears you have the springs upside down. Also when you put all it together, it is important to have the end of the coil match up with the "bend" or "kink" of the strut*. Same thing at the top of the coil, the end should match up with the notch in the spring seat rubber.

*edit: What I was trying to say was the end of the coil has to match up with the notch on the perch. I just couldn't think of it.

This is sort of what it should look like. Notice the end of the coil at the bottom.

The spring isnt upside down i can only go 1 way the top wont sit in the bottom seat when i look down the inside of the spring without the strut in place ya can see its bending from the 3 rd link down This must have happened due to my subframe bushes going

oh dear ! im going to have to get mine checked this week.....my feel crappy and really loose upfront and looking at this pick aint helping.

The thing is ICE ,i never knew the scale of any of the damage the car was woundering from left to right and i heard a slight knocking on passenger side i took the car off the road 1 saturday and inspected it and i could not believe my eyes buddy .It was f--ked

im not looking forward to my trip to the mechanics now either. but once done it will make me feel better. Im not looking under the car until after al this is done.....Jeesh !

Where is your strut mount? That's why it's not sitting straight.

It made no difference with the mount on i could see the bend in the springs when i was under car anyway 3 top rings bent ive replaced with new springs now fitted and im back on the road
