Hi Tech:

Today I had a little problem.
The battery died on my 1999 C70 Convertible.
When I tried to start her the starter clicked and the warning lights flashed on-off numerous times.

I had a spare battery so I swapped it out and the car now starts and runs normally.

The only remaining problem is the ROPS light comes on with the other lights during starting, blinks off, then comes back on and stays lit.

Is there any way to clear this outside of a dealer visit?

Not unless you find an Indy shop that can read them.

 

RATS! I brought her into the dealer this morning. They tried to clear the code but it kept returning.
Now one loaner car later, a new ROPS module, a pending $800.00 bill this evening and the ROPS should be fixed.

I still am puzzled about the cost of electrical items in Volvos. Must be made of gold. Oh well...
