I have a 2011 C70 that I was lowering the top and I stopped mid-cycle to check the 4 headliner clips in the front. I shut-off the engine and exited the vehicle, and had only taken a minute or so when I notice the rear deck slowly lowering itself. Prior to me stopping the lowering process, the rear deck was in the correct vertical position. Once I saw the deck slowly closing, I immediately restarted the engine and tried to continue lowering or raising the top however nothing works now. What is my next move to either get the top lowered, -or raised??
Not to be the bearer of bad news, but this happened to me also. Not supposed to stop mid up or down. Tow job on flatbed followed by $25 part and $900 labor fixed the problem. I wish you well.
Same thing happened to me. DO NOT TAKE TO DEALERSHIP. You"ll have to manually raise the top and lock it into place. Search Volvo C70 Top on youtube on how to raise the Top manually. Get it lowered and locked into place. NOTE, it takes 2 people to do it. THEN, you'll have to find a place other than dealers that work on Volvos. That what I did. simple reprogram issue with the top......
IF your close to the New Orleans area. Starr Cars in Kenner.....
Happened to me twice as I was repairing a broken rear clip that holds the rope to pull the side flap in. Once, had it towed on a flatbed to dealership - they manually closed it and believe it or not didn't charge me. They did however tell me the hydraulics we going and it was a $5K replacement. I didn't replace and it's been working great for the last 2 years. Other time this happened, I was able to close the top automatically, you should be able to hold down the retract button (or open button - I really don't remember, and it should close (or open again). You will get a display message that indicates your C70 malfunctioned. Mine went away on the next start.
