Default UPDATE: Fixed - Stereo problem SC-901 - Speakers have stopped working

"tech" was absolutely right! The fuses in the trunk were blown. For $20 my local stero shop fixed it! I couldn't be more impressed with the knowledge "tech" brings to this forum. He is incredibly generous and helpful!

======================================

Jumped in my 2000 C70, turned up the volumn on my stereo and was ready to rock... major problem - all of a sudden music only comes out of the center dash speaker. I have pressed the "mode" button that ordinary changes which speakers are active. It didn't help, the other 8 speakers don't make any noise at all. The stereo seems to be working fine otherwise (I can hear music in the center dash speaker).

Can anyone make a suggestion? Can this be repaired without replacing the whole stereo? If I do need to replace the stereo, do I have to replace it with the same factory model (it is a very odd size stereo unit) or are there other models that will fit. Any suggestion on where to purchase one? (I live in Houston)

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Maybe you blew out the other speakers.

Also the headunit is considered a Double Din (DD), and some aftermarket companies make DD's but are not that great looking etc...

If your speakers are blown I suggest going aftermarket because Volvo will charge you an arm and a leg. Here is how I know, I blew out both of my rear dck speakers in my 1995 Volvo 850 n/a. Volvo wanted $150 per speaker to replace the blown ones. I went aftermarket and got more speakers for the same price and better speakers at that.

Dynaudio makes the speakers for the c70.............you are not going to get better than that!!
I truly doubt that all 13 other speakers blew and left only the centre channel on his head unit..............

Make sure the Fuse in the Amp in the trunk didn't blow.

Also the Din Cables are known to go bad.
