Volvo C70 transmission flush

Volvo C70 transmission flush
I have an opportunity to buy a 1999 C70 convertible that was flooded
Oil was changed - there was some H2O in it
I know I have to change the trans fluid
Any guidelines on this ?
Any warnings?
Am I crazy to consider this car (it's one owner - 100 K & it's cheap!)
Thanks in advance!

Considering the concern over contamination you'd want to do a transmission flush, not a drain and fill. The process is essentially drain the pan then reinstall the plug. Open the line to the transmission oil cooler and fix a clear hose on it going to a bucket with volume measurements. fill the tranmission with an equal amount you drained. Start the car, and idle until the hose shows air, then turn off the car and refill the transmission (should be like 2 quarts each time). repeat until the fluid coming out is new. refill then check the level both cold and warm (after some drive time).
Should take about 12 quarts. The most important tip is to use the correct fluid type per the owners manual (ie if it says JWS 3309, don't use Dex III/Mercon etc).
