Wink Wheel Bearing Job

After viewing a wheel bearing fix for an Audi on youtube, it looks like a total nightmare, the kind that leaves your car in the driveway or towed.

It's time to call a mechanic on this one. Boy am I glad youtube is there, at least you get to size up the job before attempting. I figure $400 to $500 for the job. Well, it's my once-a-year big job, and I fully intend to let someone else lose their fingers and wreck their back instead of me.

Hey there what were the symptoms for your car to make you realize the wheels bearings had gone ?

I went through this with my S70 years ago. The front wheel in question makes a whirring noise, like an unbalanced tire only worse. It's gone on for 500 miles, I'm taking it in pronto. The clock on the dash shows diSC, because the brake sensor, I believe, either picks up on the higher heat generated or the misalignment of the brake rotor. $400 to $500 repair. NOT worth even attempting.

Thumbs up

I did both front wheel bearings while I rebuilt the rest of the front end and it was pretty straight foward. Just a bit time consuming to disassemble/reassemble.

The Job is pretty easy.
If you can do brakes and an axle it is a cake walk.

the clock on the dash shows disc because the rotary display selector switch is going bad...wiggle it a little bit or change your display selection and it will clear up for a while...

disc=disconnected in the computers mind

Your C70 has a bearing hub unit that is way easier to replace than a regular press in style bearing.
