Default Wheel Bearing

Hi
I am sort of new here. Please help. I have a Volvo 850 1994 GL (not turbo) has 140 K on it
The machenic is telling me that my left front hub/wheel bearing has plag?? Plaque? that built over time. and i need to replace it.

I know that they are not cheap. part + labor. is it time to replace it?? simply because of some plaque?

Thanks in advance.

This site is great !

There is no noise at all as far as i know..
I went to the shop to change the brake pads. They were telling me by just looking at the hub bearing. I don't understand it either. There are some "palque" built up over time on it. That is exactly what they told me.

I am confused

thanks

I would not worry about it to much. When they go bad they make a deep groaning noise.I don't think they know what they are talking about.

That is what the other machenic told me. It makes a humming sound at various speed when they go bad. I don't hear at all on mine.

Thanks for your help

I would not worry about it until it starts making noise.
