Why does the raise/lower roof button chime when its 90+ degrees outside?

Hey guys! I'm new to posting to this website, so forgive me if there is already a thread or something that concerns this problem.
I have a 2000 Volvo C70, and my issue is that the raise/lower roof button will chime and flash orange when the car is in motion (when I have the roof down). This would normally indicate that my roof isn't all the way down, but the weird thing is that this only happens when it is 90+ degrees Fahrenheit outside (32+ degrees Celsius). Could the heat be screwing with the roof sensors, or does this sound more like an issue with the roof itself? It has gotten really hot in my area recently so I've had to deal with some annoying chiming as I drive. Putting the roof partially up and then putting it back down solves the issue, and sometimes shutting the car off and then turning it back on after a few minutes helps too.
Maybe it is just because the car is older than me, maybe it is the heat, and probably it is a combo of both issues, but can anyone point me in the right direction for solving this problem in a more permanent manner? I'm assuming this isn't something that I'd be able to fix on my own, but I'm more curious than anything.
