XC60 T8 long term storage
We have a 2022 XC60 Recharge ER we are planning to leave in our unheated attached garage for 3 months. The “once in awhile helpful” owners manual says to leave it unplugged and 40-60% charged. We did this for a two week period several months ago and it worked fine upon our return. We have an old Ford Explorer which is left for many months at a time and we just disconnect the negative terminal when it’s left and it starts up right away when it’s reconnected. I’m wondering if anyone has any experiences or suggestions concerning the XC60 Recharge 12v battery. I’m concerned leaving the 12v battery for this period of time could result in a dead battery (although I’d guess it shouldn’t for a still relatively new battery and I assume the owners manual would say something…). This may be dumb, but I’m wondering if disconnecting the 12v negative terminal or using a trickle charger on the 12v could be helpful, damaging or meaningless. I don’t know if disconnecting it somehow drains the hybrid battery while the car sits. I have a call into my service advisor and will report if he says anything other than the manual. Thanks for any input.
