Hello,

i've been changing the oil on 01 S40 for a few years with some difficulty, and it just dawned on me to ask this. What tool do you guys use to remove the oil filter cover on the S40? I bought a crappy socket from eBay, and it has never worked properly (it doesn't fit properly and actually broke during the wrenching process).

I've asked the Volvo dealer to buy one of the one's used... big mistake!!! Not available (weird).

Anyway, any assistance with this would be helpful.

does no one change there own oil on this car? How do you guys do it?

 

I see the tool for sale at ipdusa.com, but it is for other models...not sure if it is the same size as the S40.
I use something like this, but mine is rubber...not metal:
