Default 05 cam problem

Just swapped my engine but now its doing something wierd. It starts and runs but when you turn it off and go to start again it gives a cam code and wont start. But as soon as you plug in the scanner and erase the code it starts up again like nothing. Any body had similar prob or have any advice on what i can do to get the prob fixed? Thanks again.

Those are cam position sensor fault codes. On my 2001 the code would set after the 2nd engine start.

sounds like timing is off...or (less likely) cam position sensor is defective.

Yea the code comes up on the second start and wont start after that, fixed the timing it was off but now it starts twice then doesnt want to start after that. Only after erasing the codes will it start.

Are you sure timing was fixed...it would appear that it has not.
