Default How to tell intake cam from exhuast cam?

Hello,

I am in process of replacing the head on my S70. I sourced a used head to replace the damaged one from my car. I had the head delivered to a machine shop for refurbishment. Head looks shiny and new.

Here is my concern. If all the parts associated with the cam shafts were in a box...how would you sort them out? If both cams, and both sprockets, and cam position sensor(I think) and distributor rotor were all in a box.....how do you tell which cam goes with which sprocket and so on?

They are currently assembled, but I since they have been out of my sight during this process, and fully dissembled, I need to make sure they are assembled correctly so that I don't ruin this head also (first one died from water pump failure).

Car is 1998 S70, auto trans, non-turbo.

Thanks in advance,

Shannon
