hey guys...

just got my 07 T5 a week ago. wow im pretty damned impressed. ive been a vw and audi man for years, and i felt like a traitor walking into the volvo store...

but anyways i did it and im loving it.

however its started making a strange noise. it seems to be coming from in the dashboard kinda just above the radio behind the 2 air vents. it only seems to come on when the aircon or fan is on. its like a faint barking sound (gosh i know it sounds weird but it sounds like a faint "woof" ...... "woof"

took it past volvo dealer and they said no theyve never heard anything like it.... bring the car in some time they will look at it.

anybody know what this noise might be?

 

Is the fan speed changing by any chance?

 

Did you get that strange noise sorted out? I've ordered an 07 S40 T5 AWD which I should get from the factory in about 10 days.

 

Both S40s I've owned do that. The 2.4i was worse than the T5 I have now. I barely notice it. I believe it is the fan and circulation doing its job.

 

the barking noise is the damper motors for the climate sytem making adjustments. there is a fix for this take ur car to a dealer and tell them to upgrade the climate control module software. volvo came up with new updated s/w a couple of weeks ago for this. fyi i am a tech
at a dealer and have done this fix on some cars already.

 

Does the climate control need to be in Auto mode for this to occur and is there any way I tell if a recent build has the update?
