08 s40 t5 AWD random vibration while moving
Hello all,
I have a 2008 Volvo s40 T5 AWD. 155k miles. I'm curious for anyone with an s40 if they have had bad vibrations while driving? What was your fix? I think two years ago my front right motor mount got replaced, still looks ok. The car seems to vibrate at only particular loads from the engine. Idles fine seems to handle on the road just fine. Shifts gears fine. but when going 25mph and up I can have this crazy, like thumping, clunking sound, and the car will be vibrating to it. Sometimes at a crawl in say a parking lot I will hear something like a "clank clank clank..." rather rapid. I've looked underneath the car, everything appears to at least be together. Nothing clearly broken, leaking, etc.
Thanks for any input

Lots of candidates. You could have another (or the same) bad motor mount (the 25mph thumping, clunking noise). Or it could be a bad CV axle, especially if it gets worse in the parking lot when turning sharply. Or control arm bushings. Or struts. Or tie rod ends. Or you need an alignment (wouldn't cause the noises, normally though). Or out of balance wheels/tires (including snow and ice packed in there somewhere), along with possibly something else.
