Default 105k reg maintenance light

reg maintenance light is on and im hearing about service inspection, timing belt replacement and aux belt replacement (aux belt only mentioned by a dealer). ive been calling to get quotes, all around $700-$800. also read that volvo says new timing belt at 120k but 105k is better. Can anyone simply advise what to do, my cup is overflowing right now

Also, any recommendations for Orange County Volvo mechanics would be great too

Thanks!!!

Your sig says 2006 so it is 120k miles. If Volvo says 120k then that is good enough for me. As long as the belt is not contaminated with oil.

Service light just means time for an oil and filter change.

I would not change the accessory drive belts until they fail but my car rarely leaves the local area so I'm fairly safe. If the belt driving the alternator fails then your car will run as long as the battery lasts. If you have the cash then have them changed when you change the oil and filter.

Sorry, can't see sigs on the mobile version.

I would do the drive belts at the same time as the timing belt, unless they are in bad shape. I have seen more than a handful fray and get caught up in the timing cover and cause bent valves.
