Hello all. I recently came across, as the title states, an 07 S40 T5 with 142K miles for sale. I'm really interested in it but a bit hesitant due to the miles. I know Volvo's can last quite some time if maintained properly, as my father had one years ago with 300k+. I've seen the carfax and there are no issues reported on it but very few service records as well. It also shows it has had only 1 owner. I'm basically looking for some advice from folks that know their Volvo's on what to be wary of or any concerns I should have when checking it out, other than the basic "used-car check-list". Thanks in advance, I appreciate any help.

That is a lot of mileage, but if the car was well maintained, then I would not be that concerned. Just make sure that they have all the maintenance records and that they are up to date. If they don't, I would walk away. Also, you can probably get it for less then 10K being it has a lot of mileage.

 

Do what I did...spend about $100 to ensure you are making a smart purchase. Get the CarFax report on the vehicle and have a mechanic inspect it. Do your own inspection and test drive of it...speed up, brake quickly, do some quick turns, go on the highway. See if the person will let you borrow their car for a day to do all these tests, mechanic inspection, etc. A car is a huge purchase, and if it doesn't work, you lose all that money.
