Default 2000 S40 Issues replacing antenna mast

Hey all,

I'm trying to replace my antenna mast since my original one decided it no longer wanted to be a part of my car and disintegrated upon protracting. I can't get the remaining length and the adapter out and I'm afraid that I've done enough damage to warrant a completely new assembly. I have attached some pictures to show my 'progress'

What is my next step?

How much is a new assembly? I replaced my 2001 antenna because it completely died, no noise, nothing. But that was a couple of years ago. What is the cost today?

It's about $90 for a non-OEM assembly. Since I already have the new mast, I would like to keep the whole assembly if possible

The picture looks like you've got it through? Is it installed inside of the antenna motor? Or is that what you are talking about...? You don't know how to get it out of there?

I've replaced mine.

1. Pop the trunk
2. To the left of the interior there should be some reusable plastic clips. Pull them off and fold the interior off on the left side. It's okay to use some force because they are molded on.

The motor is the black box that is mounted to the car right under where the antenna will be.

If memory serves me correctly which is rare(haha)... It should either be a torx bit or a standard Phillips to take the motor assy off....

When I was installing mine there was I believe a standard screw holding the antenna up .... And when we tried to put it back in the screw had to be backed out to get the new antenna in the Assy.

If you've done these steps. Put the antenna back through the hole and there is a nut and a black rubber cover that goes over the outside (on the car) over the antenna to hold it up straight.

Don't forget to put some grease on the antenna to prevent future antenna motor damage.

Hope this helps... Best of luck.
