Default 2000 S40 Paint Question - Fading

I have a 2000 S40, in medium red. The paint on the roof and rear deck, and the paint on the top end on the doors and sidpanels is faded to a lighter red, and the color difference is very obvious. Is the fading due to the clear coat being worn off? Can I fix this? The car is kept outside. If I use some rubbing compound I can shine the whole car back to a medium red (and it looks great), but then the faded parts go back to being faded in a few weeks. Any suggestions? The body panels are in good shape, no dents or rust.

you need to do the rubbing compound and get it back to new, and then after that you need to then re seal it from the elements with a good wax
