Default 2000 Volvo s40 (p0705 and 0039 transmission codes)

Yesterday I was driving normally when the orange arrow started flashing, I stopped at a red light and the car stopped shifting at all, I shut it off and on and the car shifted again although with the arrow still flashing and on third gear only, I got to my home and the next day I tried to start the car again and it did with no problems whatsoever, I went to an auto parts store to check it and it pulled the next codes: P0705 (Transmission Range Sensor circuit) and 0039 (Gear Position sensor faulty) they said that replacing the PNP Switch will likely solve the problem, has anyone has had the same problem?

I've had some similar odd behavior randomly like once a year - but it would clear up after I'd do a shifter row.

What’s a shifter row?

turn the key to the unlock position then move the shifter from park to lo to park 10 to 20 times fast. That usually scuffs up the PNP sensor's contacts enough to clear the codes.
