Hey guys, the driver size door on my 2001 s40 won't unlock all the way. My keyless also stopped working and doesn't fix when i changed the batteries.

The door opens with the key, but then when the key is returned to upright position to remove it, the lock comes down just a little bit and locks the door. From the inside, I have to pull up on the lock tab thing to open the door.

What is happening here??

I wonder if the lock button is stuck on. Try disconnecting the battery and see if the lock acts the same.

 

It's something weird with the control inside the door because the tab pops up and it "unlocks" but then it goes back down a little bit and doesn't allow the latch to open and the door to open. When you open it from the outside, turn the key to the left, it pops up the tab and you can open the door with the key turned to the left, but when you bring the key to the 12 o'clock position to take it out of the lock the tab goes back down just a little bit and doesn't allow the door to open.
