Default 2001 s40r flex pipe

I have a 01 s40r. The flex pipe at the converter has gone bad at the front weld. I've talked to volvo na, they told me vech wasnt covered under the extended warranty program because of the vin #. I questioned this because it's a obvious known problem so how can it only affect specific vechicle. Anyway, i think i can just have the flex pipe replaced, the rest of the system is sound. does anyone know the size of the flex pipe on this car? the options are 2x8 or 2x6. i can purchase the pipe separately and have the new put on hopefully. thnaks for any replies.

You can go to a local muffler shop, and have them weld a new flex pipe for you. You just say that you want the same size (replacement) and they do the rest. Should not cost that much to have done.

Don't put the same size on!
It's pretty restrictive!
Get a bigger one!

Default What will a bigger flex pipe do?

Hi there, will a bigger flex give me more power? Apparently the manifold is covered by warranty but my flex pipe isn't, is it worth spending the $2000.00 they have quoted me at Volvo to get a new flex pipe, or pay $800.00 for a used one they have offered, or go to a muffler shop and have them fix the flex pipe? I'm not sure that if I get the flex pipe fixed elsewhere whether Volvo will say no way to fixing the manifold... Thanks in advance, Rob

Default not a whistle...

Hey there, I wouldn't mind if it was a whistle, this sounds like a harley or a an muscle car, very loud! I'll take it to a muffler shop and get a quote from them, thanks for the help!!

Hey, no one has asked the obvious question. Where did you get a 2001 S40r?
I branded mine R, but unless I am mistaken, there is no such thing...
