2002 S40 - missfire
Hi Guys
Bought a 02 S40 T4 non runner as it overheated, with high hopes i bought the car hoping that it will only be a recon on the cylinder head and a head gasket + some elbow grease, after removing the cylinder head i found that No 2 piston was melted away, I then bought a 2nd hand B4194T non vvt engine witch is still in good nick except that all the cam cover bolt holes where stripped, I decided to fit the reconditioned cylinder head that came off the B4204T engine that has the vvt on the exhaust side (what a bastage to get timed up) - tried to start the car on Saturday, she eventually fired up but is running like a stubborn mule, misses badly, i pulled the injectors with the rail to see if its squirting fuel, all ok, fuel pressure sitting at 4.2 bar, next was the coils, connected the spark plugs and all of them are sparking, but no 1 and 2 was wet with fuel, with engine the engine running i started pulling the injector connectors of No 1 and 2 makes no difference - wants to stall if i pull 3 and 4, changed the spark plugs no difference still the same, pulled injectors and swapped the around, no change.
Now the the question is, is it safe to say that its the coils ? if it was crank position sensor or cam position sensor it would have failed to start at all, injectors eliminated as swapping them makes no difference
