Default 2003 S40 Radio... Turn on without using key, or...?

I have a minor irritation with theradio in my 2003 S40.

I like to sit in my car and listen to the radio on lunch break at work. But in the summer I also like to leave my drivers side door open with the windows down. I have a nice shaded spot to park in and keeping the door open gives a good breeze and is also more comfy. The problem: Having the door open with the key in the Acc position keeps the door chime ringing. I want to have the radio on and the door open without the door chiming at me.

The dirty fix I thought up was to use a wood clamp to hold the door sensor down, the car then thinks the door is closed and all is well. Looking for a cleaner solution though.

Is it possible to power on the radio without having the key in the ignition? Maybe a simple rewiring? I could always replace the stock radio with an aftermarket, but I'd rather not bother with that.

Thanks,

Jeremy

If you look to rewire the radio such that it is direct to the battery vs the key switch, you could easily at some point forget and come back to a dead battery.

You could wire a toggle switch in series to the door switch so you could activate as you see fit, locate the switch somewhere convenient.

Try an locate the door buzzer/bell and deactivate it as that is the true source of your concern...or keep the door close and window open.
