Default 2004 S40 Volvo - AM/FM only static

I have a 2004 S40 Volvo I can only get static on both the AM & FM bands.
The CD player works great and sounds awesome. I have removed the radio &
re-installed, checking the wiring. People have been mentioning a AFM Module that may need to be replaced. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Does this happen when the rear defroster is on or is it a constant issue? Does your rear defroster even work? I found out that the radio and rear defroster are on the same circuit and if there is a break in the defroster wires the voltage will jump to the radio circuit rendering the radio (not CD player) inoperable until the defroster is turned off at which time the radio will return to normal operation. I was told the only options for this is either an aftermarket antenna or replacement of the entire rear window with defrost element. Hopefully this is not your problem also but please rule out the defroster issue. Good luck, I love my S40's

My rear defroster works perfectly and seems not to have any impact on the radio, whether the rear defroster is on or off. Since the CD player works great, it must be in the reception of the radio. Also, I have tired a SECOND radio and get the same results. Any advice would be greatly appreciated ..
