2004 volvo s40 is this a good deal?
I was thinking of purchasing my first volvo. I have always liked the s40. I saw one at a volvo dealership but I am not sure if it is a good deal. Any input is appreciated.
It is a 2004 (old body style) s40 with 55k miles on it. It is volvo certified and the dealership has all the service records for the car. No major repairs have been done on it. Just maintenance. Carfax is clean and it is a one owner car. They are selling it for 13,500. This just seems high to me for such a basic car with no extra features or leather or anything. I was thinking of offering 11k for it but even that seems high for such a basic car. Do you guys think that it is worth it for this car?
Thanks

I have an LSE model and love it. I'm a bit confused..i see dealers selling what they are calling LSE models online...but I don't think they are really LSE models. LSE models came out in 04 to help slumping sales of the first generation S40..then the 2004.5 came out with a totally new body style... The LSE should be nicely equipped... here is an example :
Limited Sport Edition (LSE) is added, including 16-inch BBS alloy wheels, leather seating, power glass sunroof, and front and rear spoilers. LSE production will be limited and available in Black Sapphire, Virtual Blue, and Silver, this is off of MSN Auto's. Mine is the Virtual Blue color. it has every option mentioned. If the car isn't offering these options..I wouldn't be paying the 13.500 price. I payed 12k even for mine and it had 62k on it when i bought it. I'd love to see a link of the car for sale so I could take a peek and see for myself what they are selling.[/align]

The new S40 is way fun to drive, with just plain excellent suspension and handling and a very stiff or rigid chassis. We were fortunate to drive the 2.4i with five-speed manual and regular suspension first, because while it is a reasonably peppy car, it is far from a match for the T5’s light-pressure turbo.

Thanks for the replies. Here is the link to the car. The price has been lowered to 12,900 now. http://volvooakpark.com/preowned.inv...Vehicle=W1192A
I am thinking that if I make an offer for this car it will be not be for more than 10500. Does anyone know if this car comes in manual transmission? The salesman said it doesnt but I am not sure if I trust him at all.
Thanks
