2005 S40 T5 po172 and p0089
This is my first post and I will start by saying, I know nothing of Volvos. This is for a friend of mine. She will be leaving tonight, headed for Texas. She didn't ask me to look at her car until yesterday afternoon.
I have access to a Solus and Mitchell, but I have to use the Global OBD-II to pull codes, since the Solus doesn't have a Volvo specific menu. There were two codes present:
P0089 Fuel Pressure Regulator 1 Performance
P0172 System too Rich (Bank 1)
Now, from past experience, I know that the P0172 can be caused by a faulty FPR, fuel pump and on occasion a bad vapor canister.
I have searched this forum since last night and cannot find anything pertaining to these two codes at the same time. If I knew what the specs for the fuel pressure is supposed to be, I could test is and better diagnose the problem instead of just throwing parts at it.
I understand these cars frequently have issues with faulty FPRs and if anyone knows of another way to test it, I would greatly appreciate it.
There is also a whining noise from under the back seat, which may be the fuel pump, but again, I am all ears.
I appreciate any input.
