Default 2005 s40 t5 smoking after engine overhaul.

Hi I recently had my car overheat due to a fan failure.had to replace pistons gaskets and other stuff due to overheating.now the car is fixed but it is smoking like crazy, the mechanic tested compresion in engine and is ok, he told me it might be the turbo . Is this true? Can the overheat damage the turbo? I just spent over 3000.00 on repairs to the engine. Is there any symptoms I can look for a faulty turbo? By the way my car was purchased in Mexico imported from Sweden if it is any different. Thank you.

Well, it sounds like you are taking someone's word for it. If the car is smoking and the shop that fixed it is saying that they are good and something else is wrong, you need to take the car somewhere else to get it checked out. Or learn to check things out for yourself.

Sad thing is, the block very seldom gets damaged from an overheat, usually it's just the head with a head gasket and warped head. Messing with the block could have done more harm than good.

What color is the smoke? Can you post a video of it?

You need to learn how to check things out for yourself or get use to paying good money to have someone do it for you. You should take the car to another shop or check it out yourself. Several things can make a car smoke. When my daughter overheated her car, all I did was pulled the head, had it repaired, and re-installed it (17 months ago).

I will take a video, and I will take it to another shop where they can check the turbo and do a compression test. I do have warranty on the job done, since it was more than three thousand dollars in repair with original out of the dealership parts.

I have seen multiple P1s crack blocks after overheating. It happens easily.

I agree. It seems the guy does not have enough knowledge and therefore was unable to fix your car. Do get second opinions.
