Default 98 t5 head overhaul question.

Bought a t5 that jumped time. I pulled the head off and took it to the machine shop. They replaced all the intake valves and cleaned the head up for me. Now I'm left to reset the timing, and with this being an interference motor, I'm not trying to goof up.
Can someone give me some pointers on this? It looks to me like I need to set #1 to an 8th of a turn before tdc, then line the cam marks up, make a tool to lock them in place, then torque down the cam cover and put the belt on.
The other question is about headbolt torque. Torque specs say 130 degrees past 37 ftlbs. Can anyone tell me what that translates into for regular torque? 70 ftlbs? more?
Thanks in advance
Paul

Here are the directions for the timing belt.

http://volvospeed.com/Repair/timingbelt.php

The important part is turning it over by hand two or three times to make sure you don't get too much resistance. If you do it with the plugs out you should get a nice even turn over doing it by hand.

I definitely found written directions somewhere when I did the head on mine, but I can not find them right now for some reason. The torque specs are just what they say. You torque them down to 37 ft lbs. then you use an angle gauge and turn each bolt another 130 degrees using the angle gauge. You are not supposed to just torque them down. There is also a definite order for doing the head bolts. I rented the torque wrench and bought the angle gauge when I did mine. It was not very expensive at AutoZone. You almost need to people to use it though. One to turn the wrench and the other to watch the guage.

If I get a chance I will look a little more for the specs.

Thanks Jim. I got it done, fired it up and it clacked and smoked like a son of a gun for about 20 mins, then started getting quiet. The damn thing sounds like a 236 hp sewing machine! I'm going to doll it up and take some pics to post on the forum. That was definitely a project. Thanks again for the link

Glad things worked out. The clacking was probably the lifters. They make quite a bit of noise until the get filled back up with oil.
