Exclamation 2005 Volvo S40 T5

I have a 2005 Volvo S40 T5 Awd with around 256,xxx miles on it right now. About two months ago i had to rebuild the driveshaft, a month ago I replaced the alternator and a week after that the timing was replaced. After the timeing was replaced, along with the timing the exhaust solinoid and exhaust phaser were both replaced. the vehicle ran smooth with a slight motor shake. They mentioned a faint compression issue in piston 3, not even 350miles after the timing was replaced all the dashlivhts came on and the rpms dropped to zero, car did not die but the motor was shaking badly the brakes became very stiff as if the car did die but did not. Turned the car off and waited 60 seconds and started right back up after the start up the lifters are now ticking away and the car as done this twice now in three weeks. What could be causing this issue, I have not been able to run a diagnostics test yet as the car is with my fiance at school 125miles away.

The low compression was very faint, they said it was nothing major. The exhaust solinoid, and exhaust phaser were both replaced as well.

I finally made it to the car to run diagnostics and found three of the five cylenders are misfiring, the lifters or the timing is ticking badly, as well as dirty oil giving signs the timing as jumped. Will not no for sure until tomorrow.

I assume you mean the timing belt? I changed mine not too long ago and improper gear alignment was something that people here and on youTube mentioned as a point of concern.

It was also stated that slight improper belt alignment should give you a CEL code. Major mis-alignment would cause no-start, no-idle over all poor running and a CEL code. Problem is the VVT gear does not have a mark on it from the factory, so you have to count on holding the cams still during the work. If your shop did not do that, they are in for a long trouble shooting process. Just another reason, I prefer to do my own work. If it is wrong, then I am to blame.

To replace the belt the pass-side motormount has to come off. Your vibration could be that they re-installed it improperly, or it was damaged and they did not detect that the motormount needed to be replaced too.

So got it to the shop and they ran the test on the vehicle and 4 cylenders are seized up, they are saying the timing is perfect, now they replaced the water pump with the timing and I'm wondering if they out the wrong coolant in there and it evaporated causing the motor to seize.

That doesn't make sense. The engine was running, so it isn't seized. I question why they did all that work to a car with low compression. Why were they even checking compression?

you need a new mechanic. I have never heard of 4 out of 5 cyl being siezed but 1 works. They are all connected to the crank and must move in unison. You are not getting the whole story.
