2006 s40 2.4i stalling issue.
I've had my 2006 s40 2.4i since I was 16, I'm now 21. It's always been well maintained by a certified Volvo mechanic. It's been a fantastic car, pushing 170k in mileage. Ive had a few stock problems, like the trunk latch and my key had to be replaced. However, yesterday I was backed into by Taurus in a parking lot. My drivers side rear fender has a big crack. No tire damage or at least that I could see, and nothing else to my knowledge. On my way home at a stop light, it just dies. The lights on my dash went crazy, and the car would not move, stalled. It was shaking as well. I put it in park and turned it off, and turned it back on, no issue with the engine turning over, it was fine. I drove it into a parking lot where it violently started shaking again. I've never had any mechanical issues with this car, and I'm wondering if the issue is related to being hit in the parking lot earlier. My question is if there are any sensors or computers at the point of impact, and if its safe to drive to my mechanics, about 70 miles away. The roads were very snowy and wet, and I'm not sure if maybe the crack exposed some wiring that got wet. I'd really hate to have to have it towed the whole way. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Personally I would suspect the accident had a role in the cars new behavior. Is it possible to look up under the damaged area to see if anything is bent or broken? If the exhaust pipe gets bent enough it can cause a restriction. Ever heard of the banana in the exhaust trick like the movie Beverly Hills Cop? It's true, if the exhaust can't exit the pipe very well the car will act up as you try to rev the engine.
Did the car get hit hard enough to wrinkle the skin or bend some plastic trim parts?
