Have a 2006 S40 with 21K miles. Recently began hearing a rhythmic noise from the front (maybe the front right side)--usually when coasting or letting off the gas; not while braking or accelerating. Have just changed my wheels from winter to summer, but don't think that should cause the noise as it doesn't happen when accelerating.

Any ideas on what this could be. Not a metal on metal screeching, more a subdued noise that is hard to discern where it's coming from. Hear it most in 3rd or 2nd gear.

 

Like an earlier post--turns out that loose lug-nuts were at fault on the right front tire. Fortunately I figured this out without the embarassment and expense of taking it to a dealer.
