Unhappy 2006 Volvo S40 P0037?

So i have recently replaced my o2 sensors
P0031 and P0037 were my codes.

I bought the o2 sensors from walker products. I replaced the P0031 B1S1 and the code cleared no problem.

I replaced B1S2 but the code continues to stay on? Not sure what the problem is. I have to check some electrical things to make sure its not the sensor BUT I did notice that I could have maybe purchased a downstream sensor when i really should have purchased a center sensor?

Anyone run into this problem? have you fixed it or have an suggestions?

two suggestions - 1) check fuses - a bad O2 heating element can pop a fuse 2) check for intake air leaks and exhaust leaks which can throw off the sensors. Sometimes the P0037s (rear sensor) are hard to clear, particularly with after market sensors. Some people simply ignore (the code is telling you there's too much of a difference before and after the cat as a way of warning of a failed converter) or they use a spacer (ie Cel-boss) to move the rear sensor out of the direct air stream.

Yea I tried checking the fuses nothing is blown. No intake air leaks either. I hooked up my big OBD-II scanner and found that the "New" Sensor I was sold is failing. I put in for a replacement we will see what happens in a few days

Default Low bank on is lambar sensor

I have the same codes which also throws my intake valve sensor to come up. My s40 1.8 burns on alot of oil which make sense for the lambar sensor to trigger. Any solutions would be appreciated.

thanks

If you have the error code for Bank 1 Sensor 1 then replace the sensor. Burning oil will kill them faster. If you have Bank 1 Sensor 2 then you have either a failed O2 sensor after the cat convertor or you have a bad cat convertor. Depending on where you live you have different options. I added something called a CEL Boss. This is nothing more than a spacer on the lower O2 sensor. It backs the lower O2 sensor away from the direct exhaust gas flow. However, with the UK and the MOT you might have a problem going that route. You may be forced to replace the cat convertor and lower O2 sensor which is very costly. And you would still have a burning oil issue which means your problems will come back sooner.

Do you have a picture of the engine? The North American 1.9L engines only have an exhaust cam sensor. Nothing on the intake cam side of things. Usually it's the solenoid that clogs. Not always though.
