2006 Volvo S40 T5 question
Hi, I'm new to the forums and been soaking up all the great info on this site. I'm in the market for a Volvo and had a question about an S40 I test drove. I test drove a 2006 S40 T5 AWD 6 speed, silver, leather, and a sunroof. The car has 119,000 miles and is a one owner car. The carfax report shows a lot of maintenance records, the previous owner took good care of the car. The car drove smooth and quiet, no smoke from the exhaust, no oil leaks, everything works. I'd rate the exterior an 8.5/10, interior a 9/10. Just minor wear and tear inside and out. There is no record of the timing belt being done so I would probably have to change that asap. Clutch feels good. Only issue with the car was the carfax report stated there was an accident in 2009, hit an animal, front end damage. The title is clear, there aren't any signs of frame or suspension damage, wouldn't be able to tell it was in an accident without the carfax. We talked numbers and they had it listed for $9400 plus tax title etc, I was able to talk them down to $8000 out the door. What are your thoughts on the price? Should I just walk away altogether? Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks
Well just because it hit an animal doesn't mean the damage was extensive. Could have just been a headlight assembly and a bumper cover and maybe fender/hood.
Sounds like a decent deal, but it's hard to tell without seeing and inspecting the car personally of course.

$8,000 with the cambelt done also would be a fabulous deal for you.
The previous animal accident is not an issue if the repairs have been professionally carried out and she bears no evidence of it, as your description implies.
