2007 S40 check engine light
Hey guys!
As my last post stated, I am stuck w/ a loaner while my S40 is in the shop once again. Yesturday, the check engine light on the loaner came on. There was a message to check the gas cap (which I did) and the message dissapeared but the light has remained on. The car seems to be dragging a bit. Am I at risk for a breakdown? The dealer is closed until Tuesday. The car is a 2007 S40 w/ 8K on it. I'm thinking that the last few users likely have filled it up w/ regular gas, not premium as required. Would that cuase the check engine light to come on? GOD these cars are AWFUL!!!!

RE: 2007 S40 check engine light
I have a brand new 2007 s40 T5, which was delivered to the dealer wrapped up in cardboard and styrophone, fresh off the boat, and turned over to me all in a day. Well, 500 miles in my check engine light came on. The dealer laughed at me, told me I wasn't putting the gas cap on tight enough that's all it is it's a brand new car.... blah blah blah.
Well, I brought my car to service to have my bluetooth adjusted and told them about the engine light even though I tightened the cap repeatedly.
Turns out a fuel pump was worn out! How does that happen after 500 miles??? They repaired it, but my car has been sluggish ever since. I get this weird popping noise under my feet and in the ceiling, and my Navi system freezes all the time now. Something it never did before.
I don't know if when they hooked my car up to the diagnostic computer if it screwed with the navi, but it's sluggish now.
Very frustrating for a brand new 38K car.

I keep hearing the same thing...since Ford bought Volvo they have successfully managed to screw these Volvo cars completely, especially the 4-cylinders ones. V-6 are still Ok, I think. But I am not sure if I would buy a Volvo again!

I agree! My wifes 04 S40 LSE is a P.O.S. Two turbo's, one stupid $15 sensor that shut the car down while my wifewas driving 70MPH on the freeway, and the service manager told me it was no big deal!!!(I almost snapped and went postal on the service manager) this is my WIFE's life he was being so casual about! Three sets of brakes in 60K, all exterior bulbs went out at once, the drivers electric seat moves on it's own when you turn off and turn on the car within a few minutes....the list goes on!
