2008 S40 2.4 L Engine: Snow and mountains?

I live where it snows and near the mountains, and am considering this car: how does it do in snow? What about going uphill with 4 people and ski equipment? The engine is sort of small.

I'm considering a used model for about 27k Canadian with about 30,000 km. It was a loaner vehicle for a dealer ship and then it might have been leased to someone.

Is this a good deal?

What are they new, ~$30,000cad? that is the non-turbo model.
Has 168hp and 170tq.
they want $27k? only saving $3000. I dont know if that is a good deal?

Turbo model has 227hp and 236tq. These move better, but cost more.
Also, the one your looking at is FWD, you might want to look into an AWD for snow.
