I just bought a 2008 Volvo S40 T5 for Mt teenage daughter but finding out fast radio upgrades do not appear to be an option but I'm hoping there is a way to upgrade the radio to add Bluetooth/Hands Free.

 

You can change out the head unit, however if you dont get a good radio, you can lose steering radio controls. You really got to look and find the right radio. You will also need a radio plate to adapt the new radio to the car, and a wiring harness so its plug and play.

 

Years ago I installed many "Parrot" brand bluetooth adapters - most with special harnesses that used the factory speakers and cut the sound from the radio off when on a phone call - those are probably not available due to lack of demand - but you might be able to find a solution like that. I saw a few listed on amazon - didn't look at the availability.

As others have mentioned an aftermarket sound system with bluetooth built in would be a choice -
