2009 Volvo s40 2.4i
Hello. I am new to this forum!
After much insanity and indecision, my husband and I have decided to purchase a 2009 Volvo s40, 2.4i with BLIS and rain sensor. We kept going back and forth between this car and others (Toyotas and Hondas), but this is the best deal overall since we are getting the car for a lot under MSRP.
We have never owned a Volvo, so I am a little worried about reliability... But the warranty will help give me the peace of mind I need. I test drove the 2009 s40 the other day, and it is a very nice ride overall. It feels realy "stuck" to the road and I love that there is a reading that tells you how many miles you have left on the tank at any given time.
Any tips or advice for me on our new purchase? It should be here in about a month or so and I am very excited.

I love the 2008 I special ordered. I got everything except keyless entry and BLIS has saved me a view times. My suggestion is get as many options as possible. I even had subwoofer and Garmin added after delivery.

I am definitely adding BLIS and the rain sensor, but I do not want to add heated seats since we will be moving to a very hot weather climate in about a year and a half.
I am thinking about adding the ECC and homelink, but those are extras that I think I will not really notice much. The keyless drive is something I am not really sure about... My mind races with security issues, such as what if my kids are in the car and I am outside of it standing next to it (pumping gas, etc.) and someone gets in my car and takes off since my keys are just a couple feet away. Yeah, overparanoid, I know
. Plus, I can totally see myself locking my keys in my car or forgetting my keys in the car since I would not have to remove them from the ignition.

I also want to say that I love the ice white on your car! The dark grey is my first choice, but the ice white is a very close second. The ice white is so sharp and classy and does not drown out any of the cars beautiful lines.

Well congrats on your new purchase . I have 2006, almost 2007 s40 that is black with bi xenon, heated seats, rain sensor wipers, Premium sound system. I love it. I am the second owner and have had it for 8 months and have had no problems. I have never owned a Volvo but have only heard nothing but positive feedback regarding the reliability of Volvo's. I am a dad of 2 boys and we drive this car often since our other primary vehicle is a Suburban. Its comfortable on trips. We just went 20 hours from NM to Dallas in 3 days. None of us complained of back pain and we even had a an extra adult with us.
I agree that getting the extras is worth it up front. Since I was the second owner I didn't get that option.

Thanks! I ordered it and signed all the paperwork today! It is Ice White, 2009 S40 2.4i with Cacao interior (dark beige with a reddish tint to it), BLIS, ECC, Rain Sensor, and Keyless Drive ; ). The only thing I did not add that maybe I should have is the Homelink, but oh well... I will live without it. ; ).
